The last photograph of attempted assassin Thomas Matthew Crooks shows the 20-year-old gunman crawling on the ground, searching for a place to shoot former President Donald Trump just an hour before the assassination attempt.
The image was taken by a Secret Service agent at about 5:30pm on Saturday and reported as a suspicious sighting to police officers at a Trump rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.
The photo shows the gunman with long brown hair, glasses and a grey T-shirt from Demolition Ranch, a popular gun-related YouTube channel.
Shortly after this photo was taken, Crooks took up position on a nearby rooftop and opened fire on Trump from about 130 yards away, striking him in the ear and killing one rally attendee. Two others were seriously injured in the attack.
Authorities have not yet released a motive for the shooting.
