Former President Donald Trump will reportedly attend the funeral of Corey Comperatore, a firefighter, husband and father who was tragically killed in an assassination attempt at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania on Saturday.

Corley’s wife, Helen, said on social media that Trump called her on Tuesday, saying he intended to call her soon.

“He was so kind and said he would continue to call me in the days and weeks to come,” she wrote. “I told him the same thing I told everyone else: He left this earth a hero and God has received him. His death that day was not in vain.”
Corey’s daughter, Allison Comperatore, wrote a moving eulogy for her father after the tragedy, describing him as a “man of God” who loved Jesus “passionately” and “loved us so much that he would have taken an actual bullet for us.”

In the post, she acknowledged that the media will cover the tragedy, but she really wants the world to know “what they won’t report or say” about her father, whom she describes as “the best dad a girl could ever ask for.”
“My sister and I had no problems with anything. We would call and he would pick up and do whatever we needed and even if we didn’t know how to do it, he’d figure it out,” she said.
“He could talk to and befriend anyone, he did all day yesterday and enjoyed every moment of it. He was a man of God who loved Jesus passionately and cared about our church and believers like family,” she continued, adding that the media “will not portray him as having died as a real-life superhero who shielded his family from bullets with his own body.”

“They won’t tell you how quickly he threw me and my mother to the ground. They won’t tell you that he shielded me from the bullets that were coming towards us,” she wrote. “He loved his family. He loved us so much that he would have taken an actual bullet for us.”
“And I just want to cry to my dad and say thank you and just wake up and hope that this isn’t real for me and my family,” she continued, describing her father as a “selfless” and “loving” man.
“And I will continue to think of him and mourn him until the day I die,” she said, showing her deep love for her father.
