Donald Trump Jr. had some harsh words when asked about teenage boys crowding around his 17-year-old daughter, Kai, after her headlining performance at the Republican National Convention.
“Run, you idiots, stay away,” the overprotective dad said after Fox News host Laura Ingraham spoke about Kai’s sudden fan base.
Kai, 17, made headlines this week when he gave a speech praising his grandfather, former President Donald Trump, at the Republican National Convention, just before he was officially nominated as the Republican candidate.
“My dad always encourages me to be as successful as I can be,” the girl said in her speech. “Obviously, he sets the bar pretty high, but who knows. Maybe one day I’ll catch up with him.”
“Grandpa, you are such an inspiration. I love you,” Kai added.
“The media has portrayed my grandfather as someone he was not, but I know the real him. He is a very caring and loving man. He truly wanted the best for this country and he is fighting every day to Make America Great Again.”
After her speech, Kai trended on X (formerly Twitter), with many commenters describing her as “classy” and “beautiful.”
While her father may not be too happy about all the attention she’s getting, he posted about his pride as a father to X.
“As a father, I couldn’t be more proud of my daughter Kai and the amazing job she did last night,” he wrote. “She contacted me on Monday morning simply to say how excited she was to speak about her grandfather at the Republican National Convention, and she did just that!”
