President Joe Biden received encouraging support on Friday to continue his presidential campaign as the presumptive Democratic nominee.
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-New York) publicly announced his support for Biden, who has faced pressure from a handful of Democratic senators to withdraw as the party’s nominee.

Jeffries’ comments directly contradict mainstream media reports on Wednesday that Jeffries had abandoned Biden, and the indications leaked to the media may possibly be a ploy to embarrass Biden into resigning.
“As I’ve said many times before, Joe Biden is our candidate. He has the vision, he has the ability, he has the capability, he has the track record, and I believe he will speak to the American people and win for us in November,” Jeffries said Friday in New York.

Biden’s new statement Suggest Biden has no plans to withdraw from the race, but that is a decision only he can make.
“I look forward to returning to the campaign trail next week and continuing to expose the threat of Donald Trump’s Project 2025 policies, while also making the case for my own record and my vision for America,” Biden said.

“The stakes are high and the choice is clear. Together we will win,” he added.
Earlier this week, Biden appeared to be in a strong position to overcome opposition to his nomination. The assassination attempt on Trump brought a pause to the intra-Democratic infighting over whether Biden should stay on top. The incident dominated headlines, followed by the dismissal of the classified documents lawsuit against Trump and Trump’s selection of Sen. J.D. Vance as his running mate.
From Saturday through Monday, not a single Democrat publicly spoke out against Biden, a good sign for the president. But the storm seemed to subside on Tuesday morning and worsened throughout the week, with multiple leaks that appeared intended to pressure Biden to drop out of the race. Media reported that top Democratic leaders, including Rep. Nancy Pelosi, Sen. Hakeem Jeffries, Sen. Chuck Schumer, and former President Barack Obama, were all pressuring Biden.
