More body camera footage was released Tuesday from the shooting death of a man who police said was armed with a knife and refusing to comply with officers’ commands near the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee.
Some of the body camera footage was released Tuesday, the rest on Thursday. Fox 6 report.
The video shows a Columbus, Ohio, police officer who was in Milwaukee to help with security at the rally running up to the suspect, later identified as Samuel Sharp, yelling, “Drop the knife!”

The Columbus Police Department previously confirmed the shooting happened “on the perimeter of the Republican National Convention” but said it did not appear to be related to the convention.
The shooting happened just after 1 p.m. near 13th Avenue and West Vliet Street, about two miles from Fiserv Forum.

Milwaukee Police Chief Jeffrey Norman said at a press conference earlier this week that Sharp had a knife and was engaged in an argument with another person.
Body camera footage also shows police handcuffing Sharpe and the other man.
His death sparked protests in Milwaukee, according to FOX 6.

Sharp’s brother said her husband had advanced multiple sclerosis and had difficulty moving, adding that he believed his brother was the aggressor in the incident with the other man.

“I think he was trying to protect himself,” he told FOX 6. “If anything, he was trying to protect himself. If you’ve ever seen someone with advanced MS, you know, even just walking is a struggle.”
