Former “Jeopardy!” contestant Winston Nguyen has been arrested and charged with soliciting sexually explicit images of children.

be press release A former math teacher at St. Ann’s School in Brooklyn, New York, was indicted Thursday on charges of sexual exploitation of a child, sexually motivated felony solicitation of sexual conduct by a child, and enticing or attempting to entice teenage students at four Brooklyn schools to send him images of themselves naked or engaging in sexual conduct, following an investigation by the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office.

The 37-year-old man, who appeared on two episodes of the game show in 2014, allegedly posed as teenagers and classmates during sexually-charged conversations on Snapchat.

“A complex investigation by detectives from my office has uncovered extremely disturbing behavior by this defendant, who allegedly posed as a classmate and solicited teenage girls to send him sexually explicit images, which he then distributed,” District Attorney Eric Gonzalez said in a statement. “The fact that he was a teacher and trusted by his students makes these allegations even more troubling. We will seek to hold the defendant accountable and will continue to work diligently to protect children from sexual exploitation.”

Bail was set at $30,000 cash or $75,000 bond, and the defendant was ordered to return to court on October 17, 2024.

Nguyen is accused of crimes against five female students and one male student who attended Brooklyn private schools St. Ann’s School, Poly Prep Country Day School, Berkeley Carroll School and Packer Collegiate Institute. The interactions are said to have taken place between October 2022 and May 2024.

St Anne’s principal, Kenyatte Reid, said: The New York Times It said Nguyen’s actions were “deplorable and a profound betrayal of the trust we have shown him as a member of our community.”
