Last-minute personnel changes in the fiercely contested House primary to replace retiring Arizona Republican Rep. Debbie Lesko could affect Tuesday’s outcome.
Trump endorsed both Blake Masters and Abe Hamadeh in the Society of Truth. post Late Saturday night, the party had initially only endorsed Hamadeh; Arizona Republic report.
“Tuesday we have a very important Republican Primary in Arizona’s 8th Congressional District with two great America First candidates,” the former president posted.
“Blake Masters is a highly successful businessman and an incredibly strong supporter of our movement to Make America Great Again. He’s smart and tough! Similarly, Abe Hamadeh, a military veteran and former prosecutor who fought bravely for election integrity, was with me all the way!” he continued.
“In Congress, we need true warriors who will work tirelessly with us to grow our economy, stop inflation, secure our border, end immigrant crime, support our fine military and veterans, and protect the Second Amendment, which is constantly under attack. And they won’t let you down!” Trump added.
Masters was a candidate for Senate and Hamadeh was a candidate for attorney general in the 2022 Republican primary, but the two fell out over differences over the election results.
Masters conceded defeat to Arizona Sen. Mark Kelly, but Hamadeh, along with Governor-turned-Senator Kali Lake, legally challenged the results. Masters was defeated by about 125,000 votes, while Hamadeh was defeated by 280 votes.
The endorsement is expected to bridge the gap between Trump and his running mate, Ohio Sen. J.D. Vance, who endorsed Masters in a race in a reliably Republican congressional district.
Arizona House Speaker Ben Toma, former Rep. Trent Franks, and state Sens. Anthony Kahn and Patrick Briody are also running for the seat.
