WATCH: House Dem makes bizarre claim while dodging question on VP Harris’ ‘border czar’ record

First appeared on FOX: Oregon Democratic Rep. Val Hoyle refused to answer reporters’ questions about the work Vice President Kamala Harris has done as “border secretary,” claiming she was not the secretary and blaming former President Trump for the current situation at the border.

“I think Donald Trump prevented us from having a good border policy,” Hoyle said Thursday when asked if Vice President Harris had “done a good job” as border secretary.

“I’m asking about Vice President Kamala Harris,” Hoyle said when asked again.

“What I’m saying is, Donald Trump blocked our border policy,” Hoyle said. “Why did Donald Trump block it?”

“Was Kamala Harris a good border agent?” Hoyle was asked.

Hoyle joins a growing list of House Democrats up for re-election in November who have refused to answer questions about Harris’ record on the border or who have embraced the claim that she is not actually border secretary, despite various media outlets calling her that for years.

Harris is Biden’s nominee in 2021 Democrats and the White House have distanced themselves from the border issue since Harris emerged as the leading Democratic presidential candidate in order to work together to resolve it.

“Val Hoyle’s insane attempt to rewrite history proves that she is beholden to Border Patrol Chief Kamala Harris but fears Oregonians will hold her accountable for the border crisis,” Republican National Congressional Committee spokesman Ben Petersen told Fox News Digital.

“Hoyle’s delusional views are putting Oregon families at risk through increased crime and fentanyl trafficking.”

Hoyle is seeking reelection in Oregon’s 4th Congressional District, a seat he won by 7.5 points in 2022. A Cook Political report rated his race as “likely to be won by a Democrat.”

Fox News Digital reached out to Hoyle’s office for comment but did not receive a response.
