Biden Admin Claims It Was ‘Not Aware of or Involved in’ Demise of Hamas Leader

Secretary of State Antony Blinken said Wednesday that the Biden administration had not been informed in advance of any plans to remove Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh.

Haniya is Killed in Iran On Tuesday, Haniyeh filled his accounts with money embezzled from international aid to the Palestinians and was living a lavish lifestyle in Qatar before embarking on an ill-fated trip to Tehran to attend the inauguration of “moderate” Iranian President Massoud Pezeshkian.

“This is something we were not aware of and were not involved in,” Blinken said. Said During an interview with Channel News Asia (CNA) in Singapore.

Blinken said ceasefire talks in Gaza would continue despite Haniya’s killing. He said it was “very difficult to speculate” on how Haniya’s death would affect the negotiations.

“We will keep trying until we get there,” he vowed.

It’s vital to help end the suffering of the Palestinians in Gaza. It’s vital to bring home the hostages, including Americans. It’s vital to steer things in a better direction, hopefully toward a more lasting peace and more lasting security. That keeps the focus. And again, I’ve learned that it’s not wise to speculate about the impact of an event.

Blinken added that one of the administration’s top priorities was “ensuring that the conflict in Gaza does not spread, does not spill over and does not escalate.”

“The best way to bring down temperatures everywhere and move things in a better direction is a ceasefire in Gaza,” he argued.

Blinken should address the Iranian-backed terrorist groups that surround Israel on all sides. For example, the Biden administration has asked Lebanon’s Hezbollah to “de-escalate” if Hezbollah Robbed missile On Sundays it becomes a playground full of children.

The Biden administration’s negotiating partners in Iran appear unconvinced by Blinken’s denial of any involvement in Haniyeh’s death. Said The country issued a statement on Tuesday accusing the US government of responsibility for the killing of the Hamas leader.

Pezeshkian, a “moderate” who won Iran’s rigged presidential elections in July, on Wednesday hailed Haniyeh as a hero and vowed bloody revenge for his death.

“Iran mourns the martyrdom of Ismail Haniyeh, the brave leader of the Palestinian resistance movement. Yesterday I extended my hand of victory, but today I have to carry his coffin on my shoulders,” Pezeshkian said. Said.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran will defend its territorial integrity and honor and make the terrorist occupiers regret their cowardly act,” he threatened.
