Former President Donald Trump raised about $139 million last month, a huge fundraising figure in itself, but probably not enough to surpass Vice President Kamala Harris’ staggering total from July.
The 78-year-old Republican candidate and his certification committee raised $138.7 million in July and have $327 million in cash on hand, his campaign said Thursday.
“These numbers reflect continued momentum from donors at all levels, providing funding for the remaining 96 days until victory on November 5th,” the Trump campaign said in a statement.
Trump’s July campaign came during a tumultuous month in which he survived an assassination attempt, formally received the Republican nomination at the Republican National Convention and then had to face off against a new opponent after President Biden dropped out of the race.
The July donations exceeded the June total of $111.8 million but fell short of the $141 million he received in May, the same month he was convicted in the Manhattan hush money case.
The Harris campaign has not released its vote totals for July, but they are expected to easily surpass those of the Trump campaign.
Harris, 59, quickly secured the backing of Democratic Party leaders after the 81-year-old president gave up his reelection bid and endorsed her in a historically unprecedented move.
Last week, her campaign claimed the vice president had benefited from an extraordinary fundraising haul of $200 million just days after Biden withdrew from the race on July 21.

The hastily renamed Harris presidential campaign said 66% of its donations came from first-time donors during the 2024 election cycle.
The Biden campaign said it had not received any funds from Harris’ campaign or committee accounts since the vice president took them from the Biden campaign. The Trump campaign has called the transfer “the largest campaign finance violation in American history” and has asked the Federal Election Commission to investigate.
