Pennsylvania Trump supporters sound off on potential Gov. Josh Shapiro pick for Kamala Harris’ vice president

As the race for Kamala Harris to become vice president heats up, Republicans have voiced their opinions on Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro, the Democrat widely seen as the favorite to become the nominee.

The Trump supporters’ comments came after they spilled out of Harrisburg’s New Holland Arena on Wednesday night following a fiery rally by former President Donald Trump. The rally marked the first campaign event in Pennsylvania for the Republican candidate who was nearly assassinated at a rally in Butler on July 13.

Shapiro is a potential Kamala Harris’ Vice Presidential Candidate If she becomes the Democratic nominee for president in 2024.

The 51-year-old governor has built a strong reputation in a notoriously neutral state by condemning anti-Semitism, working to recruit and retain law enforcement and championing abortion rights.

Outside Trump’s rally, supporters wearing American flags and Trump merchandise told Fox News Digital that the pairing of Harris and Shapiro was not the right choice.

“I have mixed feelings,” Mark said. “The only good thing is that if they lose, we lose both Josh Shapiro and Kamala Harris.”

“If Shapiro really does sign … no,” Valerie said, “I’ll lose all respect for him.”

“I’m not a big fan of Josh Shapiro and I think picking him would hurt her. [Harris] I’m running,” Shelley said.

Wayne argued that no matter who Harris chooses as her running mate, her past record will not change.

“She can make her own choices about who she picks,” Wayne said. “I think once the media reports on Harris’ record, people will realize she’s a little better than a Communist.”

“This is about her, not about America,” he added. “Look at what she’s done to San Francisco and California.”

Shapiro, 51, was elected to a four-year term as the 48th president before shaping headlines in the bitter contest for the White House in 2024. Governor of Pennsylvania 2022.

Shapiro, a Kansas City, Missouri, native served as Pennsylvania’s attorney general from 2017 to 2023 before winning the gubernatorial election.

Shapiro is widely considered to be on the shortlist to be Harris’ running mate ahead of the Nov. 5 election.

Democratic Sen. Mark Kelly of Arizona, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear and Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg are also being considered as potential running mates for Harris.
