Alec Baldwin and his wife Hilaria have begun filming a new family reality show, about two weeks after the “Lust” actor’s manslaughter trial was dismissed.
The 66-year-old actor was spotted walking around New York City with his wife of 12 years and their seven young children while cameras were rolling for the new unscripted series on the TLC network.
Despite decades of success on stage and screen, Baldwin’s decision to put his family in the spotlight has raised concerns for the “30 Rock” star.

“My advice to Alec is to run in the opposite direction,” Gosselin told Fox News Digital. “Enjoy your work and your family. And enjoy life with your kids, because we’re all getting older.”
Gosselin, 47, rose to fame about 15 years ago as one of the stars of TLC’s “Jon & Kate Plus 8,” a show that focused on Gosselin’s unique, large family of sextuplets and another set of twins.

“Jon & Kate Plus 8” aired on TLC from 2007 to 2009, the year the former couple divorced. A year later, the show “Kate Plus 8” This continued until 2017.
“My advice to Alec would be to run in the other direction. Enjoy your work and your family. Enjoy life with your kids. We’re all getting older.”
“I was always worried about ‘jumping the shark,’ which is, ‘You’re filming a reality show and then you go out and do something different in public and there’s a conflict,'” Gosselin said.

“Now you’re going to bring drama because cameramen are going to come and catch you in the act. You’ve tried to live a very private life your whole life, so why bring drama into your home? And you’re a paid actor.”

He added, “I don’t think it’s a good idea to put your family on TV, especially your children. You’re a successful actor. You’ve already been scrutinized for a few things and now you’re putting your seven children in the public eye. I mean, you’ve already made this enormous fortune to protect your family and now you want to make it public? It just doesn’t make sense.”

Celebrity brand expert Doug Eldridge said he “doubts” the Baldwins’ chances of success on a reality TV show.
“Some of the worst shipwrecks in history were caused by rough seas (the 1913 Great Lakes storm) or defective ships that were pushed out of harbor in the first place (the Titanic),” Eldridge said.
“Unfortunately, reality television often combines both root causes, creating a ‘worst case scenario’ where the damage is often near catastrophic for the families involved. In today’s media environment, the chances of Baldwin finding ‘fair winds and tailwinds’ are relatively low.”

Gosselin pointed out that Baldwin isn’t “reinventing the wheel” when it comes to reality TV, so there’s no need to start now: “It’ll just add cost and stress. Why don’t you just live your life and get rich and get a boat or something and document it on Instagram?”
Details about the show are scarce, but “The Baldwins” is tentatively scheduled to premiere in 2025. It also remains to be seen whether viewers will tune in to see Manhattan’s wealthy family.
Eldridge expressed concern about the family element of Baldwin’s series, noting that children are “always the most vulnerable members of any family.”

“They are the least prepared to deal with the celebrity, criticism and vulgar trappings of Hollywood,” Eldridge said. “Exposing your kids to reality TV is a ‘measure twice, cut once’ decision; you’re exposing them to the world while simultaneously weakening your ability as parents to protect them.”
“As is often the case with reality TV, if things go wrong, there is no way to undo the damage that has been caused. As a parent, that is entirely your responsibility. I would advise any client not to expose their minor children to that kind of environment.”

Family reality TV has had many problems in the past.
Another famous family that grew up in front of TLC viewers was Duggar family, “19 Kids and Counting” focuses on the Arkansas kids. The show focuses on Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar and their 19 children, each with a name that starts with “J.”
The family quickly became popular with viewers for its focus on faith, homeschooling, and raising more than a dozen children under one roof. The show aired for seven seasons before being canceled in 2015.

But all was not as it seemed: TLC canceled the series after the eldest Duggar son, Josh, publicly apologized for his “inexcusable behavior” following reports that he had sexually abused five girls, including his sisters.

“Sister Wives,” another hit for the network, focuses on the Brown family and their journey through polygamy. The show first aired in 2010, and the Browns initially lived in Utah, a largely Mormon state that, like the rest of the US, strictly prohibits polygamy. But they later fled to Nevada to start a new life.
Kody had four wives, Meri, Janelle, Christine, and Robyn, and 18 children in total. The show ran for 18 seasons, and Christine and Kody split up two years ago. Christine has since remarried. Janelle and Kody split in December 2022.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints abolished polygamy in 1890 and now strictly prohibits it, and the Browns consider themselves fundamental Mormons.

“There’s still a fair amount of interest in reality TV in America, but it’s shorter-lived, pickier and more calorie-restricted than it used to be,” Eldridge said.
“if [Prince] Harry and Meghan [Markle] It’s unlikely that Baldwin would thrive in the shadows of such a subject unless he can build (and maintain) a consistent audience. [juggernauts] “Few celebrities, like the Kardashians or the ‘Real Housewives’, seem to think the juice is worth a squeeze, but it’s more likely to be a shot glass full than a pint glass from 20 years ago.”
