UFC President Dana White: ‘America needs a strong leader’ and Trump is ‘the guy’

UFC president Dana White believes former President Trump is one of the toughest people he has ever met, which is why he believes he is the perfect person to be the next President of the United States.

White, who introduced Trump at last month’s Republican National Convention, appeared on Fox News’ “Hannity” on Friday night to voice his support for the Republican nominee and praise Trump’s resilience in the face of the assassination attempt.

“America needs a strong leader, the world needs a strong America, and he’s that person,” White told the Fox News Channel hosts.

The UFC representative was astonished by Trump’s reaction after he was shot at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania on July 13. “Every guy thinks he’s a tough guy to some extent, right? You never know who the real tough guy is until you see one. When they shot at Trump, his reaction after he was shot was the most amazing thing I’ve ever seen,” he said.

“He’s one of the toughest, most tenacious guys on the planet and contrary to what people will have you believe and what they’re trying to make you believe, he’s one of the best guys you’ll ever meet,” White said.

White, a longtime close friend and one of the former president’s biggest supporters, recounted a phone call he had with Trump shortly after the assassination attempt.

“I spoke to him when he got to Italy, just got back from the hospital, and he was unfazed. I mean, he’s one of the toughest guys I know,” White said, adding that when it comes to “true leadership” for Americans, “he’s the guy.”

In addition to talking about the former president’s strength, White also spoke about his new fighting sport called “Power Slap,” a one-on-one slap battle in which competitors try to knock each other out by smacking their opponents in the head.

“Behind the Slap” Available on Fox Nation And we’ll take a behind-the-scenes look at how this notable sport is played and why White and his team chose to make it an official sporting event.

He is so confident in boxing’s appeal that he told Hannity he expects it to overtake the UFC in popularity.

“Remember what I said here today: This is going to be bigger than UFC. We’ve only been doing this for 18 months…. In 18 months, we’ve had 17 million followers. In 18 months, we’ve had 8 billion social media views. We have more followers on Instagram than any team in major league baseball, any team in the NHL, 30 of the 32 teams in the NFL.”

“This is an absolute big deal,” White declared, adding, “It’s the most successful thing I’ve been involved with in such a short period of time.”
