Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris made a bizarre sports comparison comparing her running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, to Donald Trump’s running mate, Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio), calling it “a battle between the varsity team and the J.V. team.”
Harris made the comparison Tuesday when announcing Walz as her running mate, referencing Walz’s time as a high school football coach.
“Comparing Waltz’s resume to that of Trump’s running mate, some might say it’s like varsity vs. junior varsity!” she said with a laugh.
Some on social media pointed out that the comparison was misplaced, given that J.D. Vance actually served in the Iraq War, while Waltz did not, and Waltz’s military record has also been called into question.

As Breitbart News reported, Waltz has faced accusations of “defamation” over his military record, alleging that “his official resume listed him with a higher rank than he ultimately discharged with, drawing criticism from some veterans.”
“Waltz served in the Minnesota Army National Guard and retired at the rank of sergeant, or E-8. However, his biography on his official website lists a higher rank in which he served for a short period of time, but which was ultimately rescinded because he did not meet all of the requirements for that rank. His biography, however, suggests he retired at the rank of command sergeant, or E-9,” the report states.
The term “JV Forces” has a troubled history with Iraq. President Barack Obama Mentioned Trump dismissed concerns about Iraq policy and called ISIS a “JV team,” but ISIS quickly grew into a major international terrorist threat.
Walz also resorted to lowbrow tactics during his speech on Tuesday, referencing a bizarre and false internet rumor that J.D. Vance had sex with a couch.
“I can’t wait to debate J.D. Vance. I think he’s sofa “Then show up,” he said, eliciting cheers from the crowd, “and look what I’ve just done.”
