Patrick Mahomes’ dad is six months sober after DWI arrest

Pat Mahomes Sr. has reached a major milestone.

The father of Chiefs superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes celebrated six months of sobriety on Tuesday after being arrested on a drunk driving charge in February just eight days before the Super Bowl.

“I want to thank God, my wife, family and friends for the past six months I’ve spent on the light side of the road,” he wrote. Instagram“It must have been hard getting to know Pat sober, but it was well worth it.”

The 53-year-old also included a message for his wife (the QB’s mother-in-law), writing, “Trisha Mahomes, thank you for all you do.”

The photo, believed to have been taken at the Palms Celebrity Golf Tournament, features controversial former MLB player and manager Pete Rose.

Despite the curious editing choice of cutting off Mahomes Sr.’s head, the comments section was flooded with support.

The former MLB pitcher was arrested on Feb. 3 in Tyler, Texas, for DUI, but it was not his first offense, according to prison records.

The charge was “driving while intoxicated for the third degree or more.”
