Trump and Harris locked in dead heat battle among swing state voters: Poll

Former President Donald Trump and current Vice President Kamala Harris are neck and neck in key battleground states, according to a poll released Wednesday.

a A survey conducted by Ipsos The Republican presidential candidate and his Democratic opponent are found to be locked in a close race in seven battleground states: Michigan, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Georgia, North Carolina, Arizona and Nevada.

Ms. Harris won 42% of the vote in seven battleground states, compared with 40% for Mr. Trump and 5% for independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy.

A win for Harris instead of Biden would strengthen traditionally Democratic states and improve Democrats’ national prospects.

“The margin of error in the polls indicates the outcome was too close to predict,” Ipsos said in the report.

About 52% of respondents in battleground states said inflation was the most important issue facing the country, while 32% said immigration was the most pressing issue.

The Ipsos poll was conducted from July 31 to August 7. The Harris campaign announced Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her running mate on August 6.

Pollsters haven’t had enough time to effectively study how Walz’s selection might affect Harris’ chances of winning.

His campaign has made it a point to highlight Waltz’s Midwestern roots and down-to-earth character, introducing him at rallies as “Coach Waltz,” a nod to his time as a teacher and high school football coach.

Harris will turn to Waltz. Key Midwest battleground states In Michigan and Wisconsin, the Minnesota governor can tout his local ties.

The Ipsos poll used a representative probability sample of 2,045 people.

Respondents were U.S. adults aged 18 and older living in Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.

Ipsos reports that the margin of sampling error is +/- 3.1 percentage points.
