Pricey AI Pins are being returned quicker than they are sold: ‘It just doesn’t work’

Bulky and expensive wearable tech is being returned faster than it’s being sold.

Humane’s AI pins retail for $700 to $800, with a $24 monthly subscription costing $288 per year, but all but about 7,000 have been returned to the company so far. The Verge reported.

According to the media, about 10,000 pins and accessories have been shipped so far.

The device, which was supposed to be a camera-controlled virtual assistant a few months ago, was panned by critics upon its release.

The company reportedly received $1 million in total returns, with 1,000 of those units canceled before they were even shipped.

To make matters worse, there is currently no way to refurbish returned models.

“When we launched AI Ping, we knew we were at the starting line, not the finish line,” spokesperson Zoz Xias told The Verge, adding that the software update was made “in response to user feedback.”

The company’s management, which The Verge reported was in flux, appears to have missed early warning signs reported by product testers.
