“The Biden-Harris Administration has done far more to address the climate crisis and environmental injustice than any administration in our nation’s history,” the Sierra Club said in a press release announcing the endorsement.

“Mr Trump has promised to be a dictator from day one in office and will continue to sell our future to Big Oil and corporate-profit campaign donors,” the group said.

“Kamala Harris is a fearless advocate for people and the planet,” said Sierra Club Executive Director Ben Jealous. “From prosecuting polluters as California’s Attorney General to drafting bold climate legislation that is the centerpiece of groundbreaking inflation-busting legislation, she has worked for decades to combat the climate crisis and protect our health and future.”

The Green New Deal Network said Harris’ “power of unity, strong record on climate change and focus on new solutions” Inspired The network supported her decision to “enter the race,” citing her track record of championing environmental justice, electrifying school buses and standing up to big oil companies.

“Our coalition represents communities that Democrats need to win, but many of our friends and family feel too defeated or silenced to fight,” said Kanyeela Ng, national director of the Green New Deal Network.

“In just 10 days, Kamala Harris has once again inspired millions of Americans to take back their freedom from billionaire and corporate clowns like Donald Trump,” Ng added.

“The Kamala Coalition will beat climate change, lower costs, and deliver what working people need, regardless of race, class, gender or geography,” she predicted. “This election depends on groups like ours being able to mobilize the public. We’re all for it.”

As a senator from California, Harris pushed for more aggressive climate policy and co-sponsored the Green New Deal, a far-reaching climate proposal championed by progressive Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.).
