Dennis Quaid Accuses Facebook of Trying to Censor ‘Reagan’ Promotional Content

Actor Dennis Quaid has accused Facebook of censoring promotional content for his upcoming movies. ReaganThe company claims that the social media giant refused to run an ad that used inspirational quotes from Ronald Reagan.

Facebook also claimed to have suspended the film’s official page for posting footage of Quaid speaking to Fox News, Jordan Peterson’s podcast and other media outlets, though the page remains active.

“Facebook is once again censoring the free flow of ideas and deciding what is best for us to see and hear, this time by suppressing advertising and promotion for my film about Ronald Reagan,” the actor said in an email. Sent Exclusively Newsweek.

“Are we becoming, like the former Soviet Union, a nation of techno-oligarchs who control the platforms of groupthink and silence individuals and ‘other’ groups?”

Reaganis set to hit theaters on August 30, with Quaid playing the 40th president. The film follows Reagan’s life from his childhood in Illinois to his career in Hollywood and into politics.

Newsweek The report said video clips had been posted of Quaid talking about the film on television and on a podcast. Reagan The film’s Facebook page has caused the social media platform to temporarily suspend the account at least twice.
