The United States has approved $20 billion in arms sales to Israel, including fighter jets, air-to-air missiles, tank ammunition and other weapons of war.

“The United States is committed to Israel’s security, and helping Israel develop and maintain a strong, responsive self-defense capability is critical to U.S. national interests,” the State Department said in a press release announcing the plan.

“This proposed sale is consistent with those objectives.”

However, the weapons are not expected to arrive in the near future and it will likely take years to fulfill the contract. The earliest Israel can expect the weapons is 2026, with another shipment in 2029, along with the American jets. The move is a long-term investment aimed at helping Israel provide better security for the future and expand its military capabilities.

The cost of F-15 fighter jets and related equipment will be about $19 billion, tank ammunition about $775 million, and vehicles about $583 million.

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, in a Twitter post, thanked Secretary of State Antony Blinken and US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin for the recognition.

“As we fight on seven fronts to defend Israel, your message is[s] Our support and commitment to Israel’s security is clear,” he wrote.

The sale will advance “a significant force expansion program to help Israel develop and maintain a quality military advantage in the region.”

The latest arms sale comes after the Biden-Harris administration halted at least one arms export to Israel over concerns about how the weapons could be used in the ongoing war between Hamas and Israel and how it would perceive the administration. The Democratic electorate is made up of people with pro-Palestinian, anti-Israel views who have criticized Biden for working with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

October 7th onwardsNumberWhen Hamas terrorists attacked Israel, the United States sent more than 10,000 destructive 2,000-pound bombs and thousands of Hellfire missiles.
