Sen. Tammy Duckworth (D-Ill.) said Sunday on ABC’s “This Week” that Vice President Kamala Harris will “focus on the humanitarian side” of the war between Israel and Hamas.
A partial transcript follows:
MARTHA RADDATZ: There’s also concern about how the Biden administration is going to position itself on the Gaza war, where we’re expecting thousands and thousands of protesters. How has Kamala Harris differentiated herself, or will she differentiate herself, from Joe Biden?
DUCKWORTH: I think we need to work to get a ceasefire agreement, and I think what she can push for is a conversation about making sure that humanitarian aid gets to Gaza, and I think she’ll lean more toward the humanitarian side.
And in fact, you know, right now there’s the issue of different sides at different times opposing the agreement. Both sides are very close to a ceasefire agreement. But I think Kamala is going to be talking more about humanitarian aid to Gaza.
