The mother of “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” star Taylor Frankie Paul is speaking out about the “hypocritical” backlash her family received after a trailer for the upcoming reality show dropped on Hulu.
in TikTok Videos In a post earlier this week, Liang Mei spoke about the criticism she has seen online and explained why it is “contradictory” to the beliefs of the Mormon Church.
“What’s really frustrating recently is seeing the backlash from them and the comments they get on social media. I recently received a comment that I found really interesting and contradictory,” she said in the video. “They were saying that my family and I are not Mormon enough and that we should leave the church and be Mormon.”

“That’s pretty hypocritical… and to state other things like this is not consistent with the teachings. Well, that’s not right either. Someone comes along and says I’m not Mormon enough or I’m sinning so I shouldn’t be a member of the church. I’m telling you, a lot goes on in the church and a lot of sin is committed every day. Nobody’s perfect,” she added.

“So before someone goes out and judges other people and says they shouldn’t be Mormon or they’re not active enough, maybe they should look inward and consider whether their actions are in line with the teachings of the church,” she concluded.
Representatives for May and the show did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.

Her followers chimed in in the comments section, praising May for her courage in speaking out.
“I’m telling you, there’s a lot that happens in the church every day, a lot of sin that’s committed. Nobody’s perfect.”

The remarks came shortly after the trailer for the upcoming reality TV show was released.
Paul shocked the TikTok world in 2022 when she announced her divorce from ex-husband Tate Paul and shared details of her “soft swing” lifestyle, including friends who appeared in her videos.

“Well, I’m like, f**k this,” Paul said before a video montage of clips from his TikTok days played. “I made MomTok, which is a group of Mormon moms making TikToks. It started with Whitney. [Leavitt]Macy [Neeley]Mikayla [Matthews] And me.”
“We’re pushing the envelope,” Leavitt said, “and changing the gender role stereotypes in Mormon culture.”

“Then the whole group started swinging on each other,” Matthews said.
“Nobody’s innocent. Everybody has a connection to everybody,” Paul said in a TikTok clip shared with the trailer.
The drama reached a turning point in February 2023 when body camera footage was revealed from the night Paul was arrested on suspicion of misdemeanor battery. Domestic violence charges.
