Vivek Ramaswami is responding to former President Trump’s comments that he would consider him for a position in his administration if third-party candidates in 2024 dropped out and supported Robert F. Kennedy Jr. for reelection.
Ramaswami did not go into details when asked by Fox News Digital, but suggested the heir to a liberal political family could be involved in crafting the U.S. pandemic response.
Kennedy has openly criticized vaccine mandates during the COVID-19 pandemic, a stance that has angered many on the left.
“I want to leave it at that, without getting in the way of any announcements he’s about to make,” Ramaswamy said in an interview, “but I think RFK Jr. is thoughtful on a lot of issues, particularly the COVID response. The failed COVID response is one area where he’s been particularly astute, and a lot of these mistakes need to be righted.”

He specifically pointed to the requirement that service members get fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or face discharge.
“Thinking about going back and understanding what were the side effects of the vaccines that may have been under-reported or suppressed. I think someone like him could be quite helpful in correcting mistakes and past errors related to COVID-19 policy,” Ramaswamy said.
The comments came amid reports that Kennedy was considering dropping out of the presidential race and endorsing Trump, and after he said he would “address the nation” on Friday.
Trump says he’s ‘honored’ to receive RFK Jr.’s endorsement, says Democrats ‘treated him very badly’

(Ramaswamy praised Kennedy for his stance on making COVID vaccinations mandatory.)
Trump described Kennedy as “brilliant” and “very smart.” Comment to CNNAnd regarding a potential role in the administration, he said, “I wasn’t aware that he was considering resigning, but if he was considering resigning, of course I’d be supportive of that.”
As for his own political future under the Trump administration, Ramaswami suggested he would consider running for statewide elected office in his home state of Ohio.
He had been mentioned as a possible successor after Republican Sen. J.D. Vance of Ohio was named Trump’s running mate last month. If he wins, Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine would have to appoint someone to fill the remainder of Vance’s term.

“what “Of course, we’ve heard a lot nationally that my friend J.D. Vance will be the next vice president, which would leave a significant void in the United States Senate to fill,” Ramaswamy said.

“At the same time, a lot of people on the ground in Ohio are encouraging me to consider options that I would not have considered six months ago, such as running for governor. So those are all options on the table.”
