Walmart partners with Burger King — here’s how to get free Whopper

Walmart Inc. said Thursday it is teaming up with Restaurant Brands Inc.’s Burger King to offer dining discounts to its members as the retail giant seeks to make its service more appealing in an effort to compete with Amazon.com Inc.’s Prime.

Walmart members can get discounts at Burger King and also get 25% off digital orders every day, the company said.

Additionally, starting in September, members will be able to receive a free Whopper burger every three months with any purchase at Burger King.

The retailer’s subscription service, Walmart Plus, offers plans for $12.95 per month or $98 per year, while membership to its main competitor, Amazon Prime, costs $14.99 per month or $139 per year in the US.

Amazon announced in May that U.S. customers could order from online delivery company Grubhub directly through its shopping app and website, expanding a deal that already offers Prime members free Grubhub+ membership.

Walmart+ members can receive the offer at Burger King locations nationwide by ordering through the restaurant chain’s app or website, the retailer added.
