Border Patrol officials previously told Breitbart Texas that most migrants crossing into the Swanton area from Canada don’t intend to surrender — instead, agents must follow them and rely on intelligence from the area to find migrants trying to sneak into the U.S. interior.

The list of countries includes immigrants from Afghanistan, Albania, Algeria, Angola, Anguilla, Argentina, Australia, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Belgium, Bolivia, Brazil, Cameroon, Canada, Chile, China, Colombia, Congo, Costa Rica, Croatia, Cuba, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Egypt, El Salvador, Equatorial Guinea, Eswatini, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Guatemala, Guinea, Guyana, Haiti, Honduras, Hungary, India, Iran, Iraq, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Jamaica, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, Liberia, Lithuania, Mauritania, Mexico, Morocco, Nepal, Netherlands, Nicaragua, Nigeria, Pakistan, Panama, Romania and Russia. In addition to the migrants smuggled into the U.S., Swanton Township agents also arrested a Chinese national who allegedly attempted to smuggle 28 eastern box turtles out of the United States.

Prosecutor for the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Vermont Accused Wang Yi Ng, 41, a Chinese national living in Canada, was arrested after he loaded a duffel bag into an inflatable kayak. Border Patrol agents arrested the Chinese woman on the Vermont shore of Wallace Lake, along with her husband, a second man, who had set off in an inflatable boat from the Canadian shore.

Inside the duffel bag, authorities found 29 eastern box turtles wrapped in socks – prosecutors said the colorful turtles are “highly prized” in the overseas pet trade, particularly in China.
