Kennedy family members denounce RFK Jr.’s decision to endorse Trump as a ‘betrayal of values’

After former presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. gave his full endorsement of former President Donald Trump on Friday, his family accused him of “betraying” the family’s values.

“We want an America full of hope, united by a shared vision of a brighter future — a future defined by individual freedom, economic potential and national pride,” said the statement, signed by five brothers of former third-party presidential candidates.

“We believe in Harris and Waltz,” the statement continued. “Our brother Bobby’s decision to support Trump is [Friday] “This is a betrayal of our father and the values ​​our family holds most dear. It’s a sad ending to a sad story.”

The statement, signed by Kathleen Kennedy Townsend, Courtney Kennedy, Kerry Kennedy, Chris Kennedy and Lori Kennedy, was shared by Joe Kennedy III, Robert F. Kennedy’s grandson, who wrote, “Well said.”

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. blasted the “mainstream media aligned with the Democratic National Committee” and accused them of orchestrating Harris’ rise.

RFK Jr.’s cousin, Jack Schlossberg, wrote that his relative is “for sale” and now “works” for Trump.

“I’ve never been more surprised in my life. I’ve been saying this for over a year now, RFK Jr. is for sale, he works for Trump, he’s an associate and he loves it,” Schlossberg said. I wrote in X’s post“Kamala Harris is for the people. The easiest decision in history just got even easier.”

Schlossberg, the son of Caroline Kennedy and grandson of JFK, has been a vocal critic of his cousin’s campaign.

When RFK Jr. first announced his candidacy, Schlossberg called him a “disgrace.”

The 31-year-old is a staunch supporter of Harris and recently spoke at the Democratic National Convention.

The independent presidential candidate on Friday abandoned his bid for the White House and endorsed Trump.

“I have made the heartbreaking decision to end my campaign and endorse President Trump. This decision is an anguished one for me because it will create hardships for me, my children and my friends,” she said at an event in Phoenix, Arizona.

Hours later, Kennedy appeared on stage with Trump at a rally in Arizona, with the crowd chanting “Bobby!”

“There are three main reasons that got me into this race in the first place, and they are the primary reasons that prompted me to leave the Democratic Party, to run as an independent, and now to support President Trump,” said RFK Jr. “Those causes are free speech, the war in Ukraine, and the war on children.”

RFK Jr. said the DNC has “waged an ongoing legal battle” against both Trump and him, and also accused the DNC of running a “sham primary” to thwart a full-scale primary challenge to President Biden before he won the Democratic nomination and then withdrew in July to endorse Harris.
