Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has spoken out after the Biden-Harris administration imposed a sixth round of sanctions on Israel on Wednesday as part of an effort to appease anti-Israel critics on the left.
“Israel views the imposition of sanctions against Israeli citizens with a very strong sense of urgency. The issue is under active discussion with the United States,” Netanyahu said in a statement distributed by the government press office.
The sanctions apply to an organization called Hashomer Yosh, which the Times of Israel describes as a group “whose activities include coordinating volunteers to provide aid and support to at least 26 illegal agricultural sites in the West Bank.”
The Times of Israel added:
At least two of the illegal sites it supports, Meitarim Farms and Moshe Farms, are run by individuals designated by the US The group also provides support to Yinon Levi, Neriah Ben Pazi and Zvi Bar-Yosef, who are designated by the US for engaging in violence against Palestinians in the West Bank.
…
Hashomer Yosh is Received Since 2018, its activities have received more than NIS 8 million ($2.2 million) in funding from the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of the Negev, Galilee and National Reconstruction.
The sanctions are part of the Biden-Harris administration's crackdown on “extremist” settlers, some motivated by anti-Israel groups such as Democracy for the Arab World, and based on unverified accusations.
The sanctions also further the aims of the anti-Israel (and anti-Semitic) Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement. No such sanctions have been applied to the Palestinian Authority or Palestinian entities.
It is shameful that the Biden-Harris Administration has betrayed its longstanding bipartisan position and its own commitments to oppose BDS, shamefully targeting Israelis and Israeli institutions with sanctions while at the same time failing to impose the sanctions that should be imposed… https://t.co/3huEUYw7dC

From the perspective of U.S.-Israeli relations, the timing couldn't be worse, as Israel confronts Hamas terrorists who have infiltrated the West Bank while also anticipating attacks from groups such as Iran and Hezbollah.
