A video posted to Facebook by the Fulshear Police Department shows the alligator curled up on a welcome mat that reads “HOME SWEET HOME,” looking less than welcoming.

The video, captioned “You can take a boy out of his country, but you can't take his country away from him,” has been viewed more than 120,000 times on Facebook.

Lieutenant Henry reached under the jaws of the crocodile as it thrashed about in his arms and crouched down to subdue the reptile with his bare hands.

As officers were carrying the alligator away, a woman yelled, “Look, you're a hero!”
“He deserves a raise!! My people would have called for backup,” read one of the top comments on the post, along with two crying-laughing emojis.
