A majority of Americans say Vice President Kamala Harris' messaging lacks integrity and is saying what she thinks Americans want to hear rather than what she actually believes. economist/YouGov Poll.
In opinion polls, carried out The poll, conducted Aug. 25-27, found that 53% of 1,554 Americans surveyed believe Harris is just placating the public and telling them what they want to hear. Conversely, just over a third of voters, 35%, said they believe what she actually says. 12% said they weren't sure.
This trend is also seen among the 1,368 registered voters sampled in the poll, with a slightly larger proportion (54 percent) saying they believe Harris' message is insincere and that she is just trying to appease voters. Another 39 percent believe she is sincere in what she says, while 7 percent are not sure she is serious.
On this point, Harris is having some serious trouble with independents: Just over one in five independents say they really believe what Harris has to say, while 56 percent feel the opposite, and another 22 percent aren't sure.
The poll contrasts perceptions of Harris with how Americans view former President Donald Trump, with 51% of Americans saying they believe what Harris says, compared with 39% who say she says things they think will please voters.
Among registered voters, 53% believe Trump is honest, while 41% believe he is trying to appease the public.
Nearly half of independents, 48%, believe Trump is speaking out based on his own views, while 36% believe he is appeasing voters. The remaining 16% are unsure.
The poll also found that most voters see Trump as a strong leader and Harris as a weak leader, as reported by Breitbart News.
The margin of error for the overall sample and for registered voters was plus or minus 3.2 percentage points.
