Los Angeles police are searching for a suspect who shot and killed a doctor who treated movie stars and athletes, and whose body was found near the doctor's car outside a medical center.
The Los Angeles Police Department said in a news release that the incident occurred at approximately 6:12 p.m. on August 23 in the 5900 block of Topanga Canyon Boulevard. When officers arrived on scene, they found the victim with a gunshot wound and he was pronounced dead at his workplace.
According to multiple reports, the victim was identified as 61-year-old Dr. Hamid Mirshojae.
“Everybody in the Woodland Hills area, even in Los Angeles, knows that he was a really good doctor,” Mirshojeh's family friend, Mariem Alaei, told KTLA. “Always laughing, always joking, always helping people.”

A motive has not been released, but police say the suspect fled on foot.
Staff at the clinic told the Daily Mail that three men ambushed and beat him with baseball bats outside the clinic several months ago.
There is a memorial for the doctor outside the clinic and a prayer vigil was held for him.
According to local reports, Mirshojaye leaves behind his wife, who was in Turkey at the time of the murder, and their six-month-old baby. The Daily Mail reported that Mirshojaye has three adult children from a previous marriage.

“He's been my doctor for 15 years. He's made me well,” Gloria Serra told KTLA. “He's from Iran, and I don't know if he was telling the truth, but last time I was here he said he just got married.”
