Eight killed in Bovina, Mississippi bus crash, including boy, 6

A horrific bus crash occurred in Mississippi on Saturday morning, killing eight people, including a 6-year-old boy, and leaving dozens seriously injured.

According to the Mississippi Highway Patrol, the charter bus carrying 47 people was traveling west near Bovina, about 40 miles from Jackson, when it overturned on Interstate 20.

Local emergency responders said one of the car's tyres suffered a flat at around 12.30am. The Vicksburg News reported..

The 2018 Volvo bus went off the road and overturned.

Several passengers were thrown from the bus when it collided.

Authorities have not yet released the names of the eight passengers who died but said two of the victims were siblings aged 6 and 16.

The Vicksburg Fire Department responded to the scene of this tragic accident, and 37 passengers were transported to local hospitals with serious injuries.

It was unclear where the charter bus was headed.

“Any injuries or fatalities would be a tragedy,” Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace said. Talk to WAPT“But in a situation like this, where there are multiple deaths and multiple injuries, it makes it much worse.”

No other vehicles were involved in the accident.
