WASHINGTON — Former Republican Congresswoman Liz Cheney On Wednesday, she said she would support Kamala Harris for president, ending weeks of speculation about the extent to which Harris, a member of a Republican family turned Trump critic, would embrace the Democratic nomination.
Cheney, who served as co-chair House of Representatives investigation To January 6, 2021, Attackwho has become a fierce critic of President Trump and consequently lost the 2022 Republican primary in Wyoming, made the announcement at an event at Duke University.
In a video posted to the social media network X, she ended by talking about the “danger” Trump still poses to the country.
“I don't think there's any room to write in the candidate's name, especially in battleground states,” she said. “As a conservative, as someone who believes in and values the Constitution, I've thought deeply about this. Not only will I not be voting for Donald Trump, but I will be voting for Kamala Harris because of the danger that Donald Trump poses.”
Liz Cheney, daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney, is perhaps the Republican's most prominent critic of Trump. She has endorsed Harris along with other Republicans, including former Reps. Adam Kinzinger and Denver Riggleman, both former members of the January 6th Committee.

Cheney was part of House Republican leadership at the time of the Jan. 6 attack but broke with most of her party over Trump's responsibility. She lost her party leadership position and became one of the few Republicans willing to serve on the Jan. 6 commission, appointed by Democrats, who controlled the House at the time.
