Former “American Idol” judge Paula Abdul canceled her upcoming tour because of unnamed injuries

Put plainly, Paula Abdul can't keep dancing.

Abdul, who is known for his killer dance moves, has cancelled his planned Canadian tour due to an unexplained injury.

The former “American Idol” judge apologized profusely to fans in a statement he posted on social media, but gave little away about the pain he's been through.

“It is with a heavy heart that I must update you all regarding my recent injury. I have received temporary pain-relieving injections to allow me to continue performing, but the full tour strain is another story,” she wrote.

“After multiple consultations with doctors and exploring all options, I have been advised that one of the injuries requires minor surgery followed by six to eight weeks of recovery, which will mean I will not be able to continue with my Straight Up! To Canada Tour, as well as shows in Alaska and North Dakota.”

Abdul expressed his disappointment at missing the opportunity to connect with his fans, writing, “I sincerely apologize to my amazing fans in Canada and the US. This truly hurts as you all mean the world to me. I have looked forward to the energy, love and connection we always share when we are together. I promise to come back stronger, better, dance with my heart and perform for you all and give you the show you deserve.”

Abdul has promised fans a refund for their tickets. A representative for the artist did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital's request for comment.

Abdul, 62, is currently on tour with New Kids on the Block, performing as one of two special guests on their Magic Summer Tour. She was scheduled to open for Boyz II Men at the Hollywood Bowl next weekend.

Abdul has remained focused on touring since coming forward with shocking sexual assault allegations against “American Idol” executive producer Nigel Lythgoe.

In the lawsuit, filed in December 2023, Abdul alleges that Lithgow, 75, sexually assaulted her twice while he was a judge on “American Idol” and “So You Think You Can Dance,” according to a copy of the complaint obtained by Fox News Digital.

“To say I am shocked and saddened by the allegations made against me by Paula Abdul is an understatement,” Lithgow said in a statement to Fox News Digital. “For more than 20 years, Paula and I have been close and entirely platonic friends and colleagues.”

“However, I have suddenly become aware of these allegations in the press. I want to be clear: not only are they false, but they are deeply offensive to me and all that I stand for.”

Mr Lythgoe noted Ms Abdul's “bizarre history” but acknowledged: “I cannot understand precisely why she would bring a lawsuit which she must have known was false. However, I am committed to fighting this vicious slander with all my might.”
