Pro-Hamas and anti-Israel students organized a sit-in protest on Wednesday outside a lecture by former Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton at Columbia University.
Video of the protests Washington Free BeaconA video showed dozens of students waving Palestinian flags and chanting, “From the sea to the river, Palestine lives forever.” Protesters also chanted, “Resist until we win,” “Resistance is justified when people are occupied,” “The Palestinian resistance is alive, not dead,” and “The fa[s]We Know [yo]u,” the Free Beacon reported.
“Clinton promotes her own legacy of war crimes.”
The former secretary of state is teaching a fall semester class called “Inside the Situation Room” at the University's School of International and Public Policy's Institute of Global Politics.
The sit-in was organized by the Columbia University School of International and Public Affairs' Palestine Working Group, which posted an announcement of the planned protest on social media, featuring an image of Clinton with a cross through her eyes and covered in what appeared to be red blood.
“Welcome to IGP: Israel Global Propaganda,” it read, using the acronym to rename the school.
The ads also included phrases such as “Invade Iraq,” “Supply Weapons to Israel” and “Bomb Syria.”
“We will not tolerate genocidal propaganda and the militarization of campuses. We call on all students to leave Hillary's hoax classes!” the organizers wrote.
The sit-in was also promoted by Columbia University's Divest Apartheid Movement and the university's Students for Justice for Palestine.
On Tuesday, the two groups were accused of preventing students from entering campus. Free Beacon A bronze statue at the university was reportedly vandalised. They called the disruptive protests “just the beginning”.
Columbia University's chapter of Students for Justice in Palestine wrote in a post on X, “We make it clear: war criminals are not welcome on campus. Hillary Clinton has actively participated in war crimes against the people of Iraq, Libya, Syria, Yemen and Palestine.”
“Hillary Clinton has used her power and influence to cause destruction around the world. As secretary of state, Clinton supported arms deals to bomb Yemen, interfered in Haitian elections and lied about 'mass rape in Libya' to support regime change,” the group continued. “In her 'In the Situation Room' class at Columbia University, Hillary Clinton touts a legacy of war crimes as a 'valuable learning experience.' We don't believe it. The more they try to silence us, the more we'll speak out.”
The group also released a statement on Telegram praising Hamas' founder and current chairman, according to the Free Beacon.
“Sheikh Yassin was assassinated by the Zionists in 2004, but even after his death, his legacy of indomitable resistance in the face of oppression lives on,” the group said. “Among his students are Yahya Sinwar, the current head of Hamas, who deceived the Zionist organization, and all Palestinian fighters who embody the indomitable spirit that Yassin taught.”
