The Job Creators Network (JCN) on Wednesday slammed Vice President Kamala Harris (Democrat) and President Joe Biden (Democrat) for claiming that supermarkets and food manufacturers are “price gouging.”
Americans Feeling Rising food prices at the grocery store hurt, but JCN explains the real cause of rising costs, asking: “Are food retailers really inflating prices, or is inflation the result of bad government policies?”
The video read:
When a company decides how much a jar of peanut butter costs, it has to take into account the peanuts, oil, salt, packaging, shipping, and the wages of the workers who make the peanut butter. All of these costs are reflected in the final price we see on the store shelves. Government data shows that these input costs have risen at the same rate as consumer costs under the Biden-Harris Administration. Food manufacturers and grocers are simply passing on the increased costs to consumers in order to maintain their profits.
According to data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, grocery prices rose 22% from January to July of 2021, when Biden and Harris took office, Breitbart News reported on August 23.
Energy costs have soared by more than 25% under the Biden administration, according to JCN. “Because we need energy to produce and transport almost everything we buy, these costs make everything more expensive,” the group said.
“If corporate greed isn't the cause of inflation, what is? Reckless government spending and over-regulation of energy production. Historic deficit spending under the Biden-Harris Administration has inflated prices across the economy and devalued existing currencies,” JCN noted.
“Instead of taking responsibility for creating the inflation, Kamala Harris is trying to shift the blame to food companies who are just trying to stay in business,” the statement said.
Meanwhile, Harris' recent campaign ads touted proposed price control policies that highlighted her desire to crack down on “price gouging” on food items, Breitbart News reported on Tuesday.
Breitbart News reported that Harris' Soviet-style price controls would essentially be government control of the free market and would be the first nationwide ban on price gouging and fixing in the United States.
The proposal, which Trump has pledged to implement within his first 100 days in office if elected, has drawn considerable criticism, including from Sens. Rick Scott (R-Fla.) and Ron Johnson (R-Wis.).
Notably, Harris is running alongside her vice-presidential pick, the far-left Governor Tim Walz (D-MN), against former President Donald Trump (R-OH) and Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH).
In a recent interview Breitbart News SaturdayScott Besent, founder and CEO of KeySquare Group, said Harris is “economically illiterate” and would crash the economy if elected president, the outlet reported on August 18.
