Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Arkansas) said Sunday on CNN's “State of the Union” that former Vice President Dick Cheney endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris because former President Donald Trump endorsed Rep. Harriet Hageman (R-Wyo.), who defeated incumbent Liz Cheney.
“I want to start by talking about some of the endorsements Kamala Harris has received this week, particularly from former Congresswoman Liz Cheney and her father, former Republican Vice President Dick Cheney,” host Dana Bash said.
“Dick Cheney supports the Democrats and Kennedy supports the Republicans. I think this says something about how, although there is a lot of turmoil and confusion in American politics, at the end of the day, endorsements don't make a difference in an election campaign,” Cotton said.
“You don't think that him supporting a Democrat with that kind of record is going to make a difference in the swing vote?” Bash said.
Cotton said, “Well, maybe this is because Donald Trump beat his daughter by 39 points in the last election. I think most Americans are going to look at this election and compare their record to this very unusual election. We had a president who stayed in office, who brought good times to America, and Kamala Harris, a San Francisco liberal, who brought the exact same things to America that we see in San Francisco.”
