A Pennsylvania conspiracy theorist accused of decapitating his father and publishing the act in a disturbing YouTube video claimed his father had “betrayed” him by working for the federal government and therefore had to die.
Justin Mohn, 32, of Levittown, appeared in court Tuesday and revealed that nonsensical conspiracy theories motivated him to commit the heinous crime. Local NBC10 coverage.
“I believe, and many others across the country, that the federal government has betrayed America, is destroying our country, and we have to do something to take our country back,” Mohn told reporters while under police escort.
When asked how the murder and beheading of his father, Michael Francis Mone (68), would achieve his aims, the suspect claimed his murdered father was also part of the problem.
“He's a federal agent and he betrayed me,” he said. “I was trying to make a citizen's arrest and he resisted that citizen's arrest.”
His father, Morne, worked as an engineer for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' Philadelphia office.
“In those cases, the use of lethal force is lawful,” he added.
This is a developing story.
