Kamala Harris Struggles with Young Voters Compared to Joe Biden in 2020

CNN analyst Harry Enten found Thursday that Vice President Kamala Harris' approval rating among voters under 30 is 13 points lower than President Joe Biden's approval rating in 2020.

The findings are bad news for Democrats, who are also taking hits from several other demographics that have historically voted overwhelmingly Democratic, including working-class and Jewish voters.

In 2020, Biden had a 28-point lead among voters under 30. Harris leads in that age group by just 13 points.

Harris' slim lead would be the worst. result It was the largest win for a Democrat since John Kerry's defeat in 2004, according to the Cook Political Report.

“At the end of the day, Kamala Harris is not as popular with young voters as you would expect Democrats to be, based on history,” Enten explained on CNN.

At this time four years ago, Joe Biden had a 28-point lead over Donald Trump. When Joe Biden dropped out of the race, his lead was just seven points.

Right now, Kamala Harris is ahead of Joe Biden, but look at this. She's only 15 points ahead of him. That's substantially lower than Joe Biden's lead among the youngest demographics. It's about half the lead Joe Biden had.

Harris' campaign is hoping pop star Taylor Swift's endorsement will help boost her popularity among younger voters.

“It's unclear whether Swift's endorsement will sway Gen Z and millennials toward Harris and make a big difference,” Axios said. Reported Friday. “But there are indications that she is one of the few prominent figures who could turn things around in Democrats' favor.”
