A Major Victory for Election Integrity in Pennsylvania

The Pennsylvania Supreme Court ruled Friday that mail-in ballots with incorrect dates will not be counted in November's election, a decision that could have major implications for the battleground state where the vote is narrowly divided.
The ruling overturns a lower court ruling last month that found it unconstitutional to reject mail-in ballots that are missing or have the wrong dates.
Pennsylvania's bureaucratic requirements for ballots have long been the subject of litigation. Opponents of the date requirement argue that it unnecessarily disenfranchises voters. Voting rights groups sued in court in May to block the provision, which would have required election officials to reject ballots with incorrect dates written on them, even if they arrived by the legal deadline of 8 p.m. on Election Day.
