MSNBC host Jonathan Capehart said on “The Chris Jansing Report” on Friday that it's “scary” that roughly half of the nation supports former President Donald Trump.
“I've been watching Donald Trump's press conference since we've been doing this segment and even before you moved to the Q&A, and one thing that stood out to me as I listened to him, particularly that answer, was, we have a former president of the United States basically ignoring the concerns of elected officials in the affected city of Springfield, Ohio, and the Republican governor of that state has denied this, and yet he's still talking about this, still pushing back to the border, and then on top of that he's saying this is why I'm going to lead the largest mass deportation in the history of this country,” Capehart said.
“This word that he uses. This is the first time I've heard him use the word 'nest' when talking about immigrants. They come from the nest, they come to this country? He's dehumanizing and devaluing immigrants as a precursor to this mass deportation. I can't in good conscience allow him to say this and for the Republican Party to not push back.”
“The scariest thing of all is that about half the nation is buying what he's selling,” Capehart added.
