Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro (D-Pennsylvania) said Sunday on CNN's “State of the Union” that former President Donald Trump and his running mate, Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio), are “putting our fellow Americans at risk” with their comments about immigration.
When asked about the previous interview, host Dana Bash responded, “There's a lot we want to talk about, but first, what's your reaction to what you heard from Senator J.D. Vance?”
Shapiro said, “Dana, that's insanity. You have the governor of Ohio, you have the mayor of that town in Ohio saying this is all a hoax. It's all lies. There is no truth to it. And then you have a U.S. senator from Ohio on your show blaming his lies on his constituents. This man is really pathetic, but he's dangerous. There is a causal connection between the bullshit that J.D. Vance and Donald Trump spew and the safety and security of the American people. When they go out and lie like this, they put their fellow Americans at risk. J.D. Vance should be ashamed. He should know better.”
She added, “He doesn't understand the power of his words, the power of his lies, and they're putting people at risk. This is dangerous. I know it started because they wanted to distract the American people from failed policies and chaos, but because they instigated it, this has now taken on a life of its own and people's lives are being put at risk because of J.D. Vance. This man should know better and be ashamed of what he's done.”
