Selena Gomez, Candice Bergen Call Out JD Vance over ‘Childless Cat Ladies’

Onstage at the Peacock Theatre in downtown Los Angeles, Hollywood stars Selena Gomez and Candice Bergen used the Emmy Awards ceremony, broadcast Sunday on ABC, to ridicule Republican vice presidential nominee J.D. Vance as a “childless cat lady.”

This year's Emmy Awards were largely apolitical, a surprising development given the looming presidential election and Hollywood's unconditional adoration of Kamala Harris.

Hulu There's been a lot of murders in the building. Star Selena Gomez couldn't help but criticize, even if only briefly.

While accepting the night's top award alongside co-stars Steve Martin and Martin Short, Gomez joked, “It's such an honor to work with two people who are the furthest thing from a childless Catwoman.”

CBS Murphy Brown Star Candice Bergen recalled the early '90s, when then-Vice President Dan Quayle (right) was at odds with her show.

“In one famous scene, when Murphy gets pregnant and decides to raise the baby as a single mother, my character is attacked by Vice President Dan Quayle. How far we've come. Today, a Republican vice presidential nominee would never attack a woman for giving birth to a child. So, as they say, my job here is done. Meow,” she said.

Her jab drew rapturous applause from the crowd of Hollywood celebrities.

Gomez and Bergen are the latest high-profile figures to latch onto the rhetoric in a concerted effort from the left to distract voters from Kamala Harris' dismal record on the economy and illegal immigration.

Under Kamala Harris's economy, consumer prices have soared to unprecedented levels, leaving tens of millions of Americans struggling to pay for essential goods and services like groceries, energy, rent and insurance.

Meanwhile, thanks to Kamala Harris' total failure to secure our borders, over 10 million illegal immigrants are receiving taxpayer-funded benefits, including free housing.

Last week, Taylor Swift signed a post in support of Kamala Harris with the words “childfree cat loving woman.”
