Florida dad scares off alleged peeping Tom with a baseball bat caught on camera: ‘I got something for you’

A Flagler County, Florida father found some solace after using a baseball bat to scare away a man who was reportedly prowling through his teenage daughter's window.

Last Friday's altercation was caught on a neighbor's surveillance camera and marked the second time in two days that a suspected peeping tom had been spotted on the family's property.

“He was at the window in my daughter's room,” the father told FOX 35 Orlando. “I said just a few words and then he turned to me and started swinging the bat.”

“He didn't seem fazed. He's a pretty big guy so I thought I was going for his head, and when I did, he started to run away,” he added.

Surveillance footage shows the vigilante father, holding a Louisville Slugger, chasing a prowling suspect down Pine Hill Lane on Friday while calling for help from neighbors.

“Call the police…call the police! Somebody call the police,” yelled the Florida father. “Where are you going, boy? Come here…come here…something's wrong with you.”

The family then “immediately” called the Flagler County Sheriff's Office, according to the press release.

The suspect, Damon Arthur Smith, was quickly arrested after admitting to “being on the victim's property,” according to the release. Smith told authorities he gets a “thrill” from roaming people's homes.

At the time of his arrest, Smith was seen wearing a Michael Myers T-shirt with the phrase “Everyone deserves a good scare once in a while.”

“I don't know what his intentions are … if it's something that's going to escalate over time. [Michael Myers] “He could have been his role model, but maybe we just caught him at the right time,” his father told FOX 35.

“This pervert had stated that he gets turned on by peeking into other people's windows, but in this instance he encountered a father trying to protect his daughter,” Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staley said in a statement. “Fortunately, our deputies were able to track this pervert down and have him contained at the Green Roof Inn.”

Damon Arthur Smith, 29, was charged with loitering or prowling, voyeurism (first offense) and aggravated stalking of a person under the age of 16.

Smith's first involvement with police was when he was 18, after making a bomb threat at Flagler Palm Coast High School.
