Democrats have expressed displeasure with the Harris campaign's decision to limit media access to Vice President Kamala Harris.
With less than 50 days until Election Day, Harris has given only four interviews, leaving voters confused about many of her policy proposals for the Biden-Harris Administration's failings. In the rare interviews she does, she often uses scripted lines or repeats similar talking points in response to questions she doesn't directly answer.
Nearly half of Americans (48%) believe Harris is just telling people what they want to hear. economist/YouGov Poll Found Meanwhile, only 36 percent said Harris speaks for what she believes.
Democratic strategist Brad Bannon: 'Harris isn't as well-known as Biden' said of hill“She needs to write more details about her profile.”
“They need to find a way to get her out there in a big way, not just on CNN, where the majority of the audience is already tuning in to her,” said another Democratic strategist. “And they need to keep up a consistent media outreach in big and small ways in the final weeks. She can't just do rallies and scripted in-person appearances.”
The campaign's strategy has frustrated media allies, with Harris-Waltz on pace to give the fewest interviews and press conferences in the history of U.S. campaigns, Axios reported. Reported Thursday. “Major news networks have request I requested an interview with the Harris campaign.” new york Times.
Some Democrats in the media believe, without evidence, that the more voters who see Harris, the more voters will like her. “Polls show that the more voters who see Kamala, the more voters will like Kamala,” CNN commentator Van Jones said Tuesday. “More, more, more.”
Jones' speculation appears to be unfounded and contradicted by opinion polls, perhaps suggesting that the Harris campaign's media strategy is sound.
According to a Gallup poll, Harris's favorability rating has fallen since August, while former President Donald Trump's favorability rating has increased.
- Trump's favorability rating above 5 points from August: 46 percent (+5), unfavorable: 53 percent (-2).
- Harris's popularity Down 3 points since August: 44 percent (-3), unfavorable: 54 percent (+5).
Another reason the campaign is keeping Harris in the dark may be so she can receive positive press without risking a media appearance that would either tarnish her record in a Biden-Harris administration or portray her as the incumbent no-change candidate.
According to a Media Research Center survey, since Harris began her presidential candidacy, television networks have given her 84% “positive coverage,” while 89% of their coverage of Trump has been negative.
