The days of old media are coming to an end, but Piers Morgan is championing it.
“Generally speaking, people no longer perceive CNN as the outlet they go to for totally unbiased news coverage, and that's disappointing for the CNN brand,” Morgan told Dave Rubin of The Rubin Report.
“They have an identity struggle, which is ironic for someone who is so vocal about their identity,” he added.
“Do you think it even matters in any sense anymore whether CNN or the mainstream media survives,” Rubin asks. “We're all trapped in our own little corridors, and we know there's danger there, but does it really matter whether The New York Times or The Washington Post or CNN survives this crisis?”
Morgan doesn't believe it matters one bit.
“It's like survival of the fittest in any jungle,” he told Rubin, adding that none of his sons, ages 31, 27 and 23, watch traditional media.
“None of them are watching traditional TV. If they are, they're watching it through the YouTube app. I read the other day that 10 percent of American TV viewers that have a TV, a smart TV, watch TV through the YouTube app. And only 23 percent watch network TV on their smart TVs,” Morgan explains.
“Five years from now, YouTube will likely be the most used app on a smart TV,” he added.
