Hezbollah fired missiles at Tel Aviv and central Israel on Wednesday morning local time, triggering air raid sirens and sending residents fleeing to bomb shelters and evacuation rooms.
There were no reports of injuries or damage.
It was not immediately clear what type of projectile was fired, but Army Radio reported that a “missile” fired from Lebanon landed in Israel without causing any damage and was later intercepted by the Arrow missile defense system, which is used for long-range missiles.
Doron Kadosh, a military correspondent for Army Radio, suggested that Hezbollah may be trying to establish equality with the Israeli military, which has been carrying out attacks on Beirut over the past few days, with the difference being that Israel is going after military targets such as Hezbollah leaders, while Hezbollah is going after (and hiding among) civilians.
The Hezbollah attack came a day after Israel killed one of the Iranian-backed terrorist organization's senior commanders, who was orchestrating missile attacks on Israel. It also came a day after U.S. President Joe Biden addressed the United Nations General Assembly in New York. During a visit to Israel in October, Biden issued his infamous “things not to do” to Hezbollah and Iran, warnings that appear to have gone unheeded as Hezbollah inch closer to all-out war.
