One woman in Atlanta, Georgia, told Fox News Digital that crime makes her feel unsafe in the city.
“It's really hard out here,” Chelsea told Fox News Digital. “It's really scary out here.”
She said “crime rates are skyrocketing” and she feels it is unsafe to live in the city.
“Atlanta used to be safer than Atlanta is now,” she added. “You used to feel safe in certain neighborhoods, but now you don't feel safe anywhere. Even if you live in a nice neighborhood, you don't feel safe.”

Avery, the man accompanying Chelsea, echoed her feelings of unsafety.
“I don't feel safe in my city, I really don't,” said the resident, who has lived in the city all his life.
Audrey, a student at Georgia State University, shared a similar view, saying crime is more of a problem now than it was four years ago and has “gotten worse” since the coronavirus pandemic. When asked if she felt safe, she replied, “Not really.”
Audrey, who has lived in Atlanta all her life, said she could imagine small business owners would be “frightened” about coming to the city.
“You get used to shootings, but over time you get used to it,” she said.
A recent Department of Justice study found a dramatic increase in violent crime under the Biden-Harris Administration. Overall, the study found that the total number of reported violent crimes has increased from 5.6 per 1,000 people ages 12 and older in 2020, when President Trump was in office, to 8.7 per 1,000 in 2023.

But some Atlanta residents believe crime isn't as bad as others make it out to be.
Marcus, who moved to Atlanta to work in the hospitality industry, said he feels it's “no different from any other city.”
“There's good and there's bad,” Marcus told Fox News Digital. “I feel like there's room for improvement in everything, but when it comes to crime, it's the status quo.”
He added that while downtown is “not very safe” to walk around at night, it is “beautiful” during the day.

A student who gave his name as Marcellus said crime in the city “fluctuates.”
“It's probably gotten a little bit worse over time. Some times it's OK, some times it's a lot worse than others,” he said. “Right now it's on the more average side. There's a lot more fraud than there used to be. There's more online fraud. There's not as much crime on the go.”
