Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff said Thursday on MSNBC's “The Last Word” that former President Donald Trump is targeting the backs of Jewish Americans with his rhetoric.
“What really bothered me about a week ago was that at an event purporting to fight anti-Semitism, Trump stood up and said vile anti-Semitic things, terrible metaphors, at length,” Emhoff said. Every time something like that happens, we have to speak out. So I'm not afraid, I'm not going to live in fear, I'm a Jew. Live your life with dignity and pride.”
Host Jen Psaki said, “When you hear him say things like that, he says there's an old trope that if he doesn't win, it's essentially the fault of Jewish Americans.'' I know you made a statement about X at the time. Are you worried that he's targeting Jewish Americans?”
Emhoff said: Take him at his word. He lies about many things, but let the two of you take his word for things like this. This is a disgusting metaphor, the so-called dual loyalty. That is outrageous. And it's not just Jews who should be outraged. ”
Psaki said, “When he says things like that, do you think he's anti-Semitic?'' Look at him, this kind of repetition of words and language is anti-Semitic. Do you think so? ”
“Of course I do, and I definitely said that publicly,” Emhoff said.
