Baseball fans watching the Mets' crucial game against the Brewers on Saturday night burst into laughter as a hot microphone caught home plate umpire Adrian Johnson reacting as if a foul ball had gotten stuck in his arm.
That moment occurred in the top of the ninth inning when the Mets lost, when Francisco Lindor stepped to the plate.
With the count 0-2, the Mets infielder managed to fight off a pitch from Brewers pitcher Devin Williams, but the pitch went backwards and appeared to grab Johnson's arm.
Foul balls caused unsafe reactions.
“Oh, mom,” he said, which was clearly picked up by Fox's field microphone.
Lindor ended up grounding out on the next grounder to Williams, and the Mets lost 6-0 to Milwaukee in a crucial game with their playoff hopes on the line.
Johnson was caught on a hot mic in August 2022 while attempting to announce his decision after a video review during a Padres-Giants game.
“I looked back and… oh my god,” Johnson said, realizing he had cursed into a packed stadium, thinking his microphone had been turned off.
Saturday wasn't the first hot mic moment of the season for major league umpires, either.
At the beginning of this year, Crew chief Alan Porter forgot to turn off his microphone. After announcing a video review call during the Rangers vs. Phillies game, he accidentally dropped an F-bomb during the broadcast.

“That was where we all were. We thought it was gone,” Porter was heard saying on the NBC Sports Philadelphia broadcast. “But we're just going to say, Crew chief review, and we're going to leave because we're not going to flip it and look like idiots if it doesn't leave.”
A similar situation occurred with the Mets in May when an altercation between manager Carlos Mendoza and the referees was picked up on a hot mic after a controversial call in a game against the Cubs.
In a more serious situation, Red Sox forward Jalen Duran was caught on a hot mic after making homophobic slurs toward a fan.
Duran was suspended for two games for this violation.
