Iran About to Fire Missiles at Israel; Israel Says None Detected, but Ready

As Israeli forces battle the Iranian terror proxy Hezbollah in Lebanon, US officials reportedly warned on Tuesday that Iran was about to fire a ballistic missile at Israel.

Israel responded to the warning by saying it had not yet detected any missiles from Iran but was prepared.

Meanwhile, the State Department instructed U.S. embassy staff to evacuate to designated locations.

In April, Iran fired approximately 300 missiles, projectiles, and drones directly at Israel. Almost all of them were intercepted by Israeli air defenses and those of other US allies in the region.

The Biden administration has urged Israel not to take any significant response. Israel did retaliate, but in a limited manner, targeting Iranian air defenses and demonstrating that Israel could easily penetrate them.

Iran suddenly became vulnerable to Israeli attack. The Iranian regime has been using Hezbollah as a deterrent against any attack on its nuclear program, but Hezbollah's capabilities have declined significantly over the past two weeks.

Iran had also vowed revenge for the killing of Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran in July, but apparently had not yet been able to mount a serious response.

Israel officially announced on Tuesday that it had launched a ground operation in Lebanon, revealing that it had been sending special forces to the country for months.
